Enjoying the Engagement

A lot of people get engaged, and then hit the ground running planning the wedding.  Before you know it, months have gone by, and you’re married, and you realize the engagement went by so quickly!

I always encourage brides to enjoy their engagement.  All too often a couple will get so busy with making wedding arrangements that they miss out a special time in their relationship that they’ll never get back again.  Think about it:  once you’re married, you’ll never just be “engaged” again!

So I really want to urge couples to do more than just take engagement portraits and be done with it.  If someone offers to throw an engagement party, take them up on it!  Take some time to get your nails done often because you won’t always be throwing out the left hand to show off your new sparkle! Also, remember to keep the courtship going.  Continue going on actual dates.  As far as wedding planning is concerned, enjoy the moments you spend with girlfriends, moms, sisters, future mother in laws, your future groom when you do special things like cake-tastings and trying on gowns.

This is a time in your life that you’ll never get back.  Once the marriage begins, the engagement is officially over, so make the most of it!

There should be more to the engagement stage, more parties, more traditions like for the wedding stage! Come up with some Anne, and fast, over a month has already gone by on my engagement!!! :)
