Arrival of Autumn at Heather’s Glen

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Autumn arrived this year while Heather’s Glen staffers were in Vegas getting our Wedding MBAs (Merchant Business Academy), learning how to reach you brides better and how to find out exactly what you want.  More about that in its own blog later, I really wanted to say how lovely our Falls in Texas are.  While we can’t really boast of the foliage of New England, we’ve got our own gorgeous thing going on!  Perhaps I’m a little biased because I married in October, but I love Autumn weddings.  The gardens are super green and lush- just check out the picture below of the November 13th wedding we did last year.  This outstanding photo was taken for a 2pm wedding.  Look at that green!

NACE Fundraiser Event

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

We attended another wonderful NACE event on September 15th, a fundraiser for the Houston Food Bank.  They raised money with casino tables upstairs and a silent auction downstairs at the lovely Courtyard at St. James!  Wedding trend-wise, check out the beautiful feather centerpieces- so lush and lovely.  I’ve only seen that done once before, pink ones for a baby shower, but I expect to see more and more of them!

Painting with a Twist: Bachelorette Party Idea!

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Last Saturday, Heather and I attended a Painting with a Twist party.  For those of you who haven’t checked it out, it’s a store in The Woodlands where you bring your own wine and appetizers, and with the guidance of an instructor, paint a lovely painting!  Heather and I had a first sip of wine when she turned to me and said, “Wouldn’t this be a perfect bachelorette party?!”  And it is!  It’s local, safe, and sooo fun.  Check out some of the pictures :)

Prepare at Sedona!

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Imagine your wedding day.  You are on your escort’s arm.  You begin to walk down the aisle and your coordinator fluffs your dress.  Your guests have stood and faced you and the music begins.  You see your groom!  He is just so handsome in that tux!  You look over to the right and see your bridesmaids and this is what you see…

Wait, what?!  I know what you’re thinking.  Those are puppets from Sesame Street.  You know what else it’s a picture of?

One bridesmaid with an unnatural orange tan a la Snooki, and one bridesmaid with a unibrow a la Frida Kahlo.

What the heck?!  What happened?  They have the shoes, dresses, flowers, hairdos, but…let’s just say that image is a little bit lackluster in the grooming department!

Calm down.  It was just a picture that I painted for you, it doesn’t have to be reality!  How to prevent such a reality?  What about a spa night for you and your bridesmaids?  And I have a FABULOUS one to recommend, that’s close to Heather’s Glen- perfect!  Sedona, a fitness center and spa for women, is located in The Woodlands, and ready to book your bridal spa party!  Call today and schedule a date and time in which you and your gals can get naturally spray tanned, waxed, massaged, and relaxed before the big day.

Because you don’t want your bridesmaids to look like Bert and Ernie now, do you???

Bridal Shower #4?

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Yes, I think it was the fourth one this year.  I’ll check my sources.

This was an extra-special wedding shower, because the bride is an employee at Heather’s Glen!  Wendy and Travis married here this past Saturday night, so a profile blog will surely follow within the next couple weeks.  What a great couple they are, and Wendy is not only an excellent asset to the Heather’s Glen team, she’s a very big part of the Heather’s Glen family!

Wendy’s shower itself was very traditional: a darling cake and sorbet punch.  Just a bunch of gals getting to know each other before the wedding and watching Wendy open tons of gifts.  I think I took a picture of EACH gift she opened, but don’t worry, I’ll spare you guys and post the fun ones with the Heather’s Glen crew!

LaRenda, Wendy’s sister-in-law, kindly hosted the lovely shower.

Something I’ve been seeing a lot of at showers (now that I’m a professional shower go-er), is a box or book in which guests give words of advice, wisdom, or wishes for the couple.  I think it’s a wonderful keepsake.

Here’s a shot of Wendy opening one of her first gifts, a rice cooker!

Here’s the gang together!  You may recognize Bonnie from previous posts; the press was all over her wedding and shower (this press was, anyway)! ;

While I have more wedding showers to cover, I’ll try to mix up my next couple of blogs with other wedding ideas.  Do you have any shower games, favors, or tidbits you’d like to share?  Comment below!  Don’t be shy!

Props for Wedding Photos

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

So I’m all about props in wedding photos right now, especially in bridal sessions or engagement sessions.  I think we’ve all had enough of the same old pose of the couple gazing into each other’s eyes, right?  It’s way more fun to see some personality and playfulness!  Same with bridal portraits.  Props that have surfaced in wedding photos are vintage bikes, balloons, umbrellas, perfume, and as you’ll see in mine, books.  Check out these fun photos.

Honeymoon Under the Sea…

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Just by the title of the blog, you’d think I’d be referring to snorkeling or scuba diving excursions during your honeymoon, right?  Wrong.  I’m referring to the new honeymoon suite that is available in the Maldives:  The Conrad Hotel is boasting the suite under the sea for it’s 5th birthday.  Wait, where? you ask.  The Maldives are an island nation off the coast of India.  Talk about destination, and talk about swanky!  The exclusive hotel’s newest suite offers Bulgari toiletries, wine, champagne, and spa services.  The suite is called Ithaa, and guests can relax in bed and watch various ocean life swim around the 5 meter suite.
